As a member of the "go-cluster" program of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, the ThEEN innovation cluster was selected by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. Department of State as well as the Organization of American States (OAS) to represent Germany in the field of renewable energies.

After successfully completing the application process, ThEEN Managing Director Jana Liebe traveled to Colorado from August 1-6, 2021 as part of the German delegation together with representatives from German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, Aif Projekt GmbH and Berlin Partner for Business and Technology to participate in the Americas Competitiveness Exchange (ACE). The ACE program promotes international exchange and cooperation on innovative topics.

Ms. Liebe represented the ThEEN innovation cluster and the field of renewable energies, energy storage and energy efficiency with the aim of exchanging experiences and initiating new partnerships and cooperations, especially in the field of research and development for the energy supply of the future, business models in the renewable energy sector and strategies for CO2-free production.

ThEEN took advantage of the multiple stops in Denver, El Paso County and Jefferson County for in-depth discussions on strategies and technologies for carbon neutral energy supply. For example, ThEEN's executive director presented the flagship projects "smood® - smart neighborhood" and ZO.RRO – Zero Carbon Cross Energy System to top professionals in the field of innovation, entrepreneurship and economic development from Colorado as well as high-profile delegates from eleven nations, which met with great interest. The storage technologies developed in the "smood®" growth core, such as the electric neighborhood storage system EStorage and the seasonal heat storage technology GeoHeatStorage, were particularly in demand.

In line with our mission as an innovation cluster to internationalize, we will organize exchange formats with previously identified partners from the USA who, like us, work in the sustainability field, report further and initiate international projects as appropriate.
